“Never be afraid to try something new with your hair.”

ALEX

Who or what inspired you to become a Hairstylist?

Since childhood, I have been involved in art, and as I grew older, I began to see hair as an extension of that world. The color, the styles, and the meaning behind each choice began pulling more and more of my interest and attention, so after graduating high school, I enrolled in a cosmetology program. Since that day, I have never looked back!

What is your favorite part about being a Hairstylist?

Along with the ever-evolving trends that keep me learning day-to-day, I’ve come to cherish the connections I’ve made with my clients through providing a service that makes them feel confident and beautiful.

From your expertise and experience, please share 1-2 helpful tips you think are most important to share with clients.

The most frequent tip I give my clients is to always have a good shampoo, conditioner, and heat protectant at home. This will save the health of your scalp and hair, preserve color, and allow for ease of styling. It’s your crown, so we need to treat it as such. Second, never be afraid to try something new with your hair. You’ll never know if you like something unless you try it. Have fun with it!

What is your favorite part about being a Hairstylist?

My favorite part about being a Hairstylist is getting to make people feel good about the way that they look. A great tip I love to give my clients about styling their hair is, while blow-drying, let your hair cool before taking it off the brush. Hair is like chocolate, when it’s hot it’s malleable and then once it has cooled down, it will take + keep the shape it was cooled in.

A cool tip I like to always use is to prolong a blowout or style is wash just your bangs let’s say on day 3/4 if you find your root being a little overly oily and sometimes dry shampoo isn’t cutting it. Blow dry the bangs and dry shampoo the rest and it looks like a fresh voluminous style.
